Tiffany Henderson completed an eight-week work placement in London, England. She interned at a Care Home dedicated to helping those who in old age had dementia, physical disabilities, and Alzheimer’s. Tiffany assisted with a variety of care tasks and activities with the residents, including but not limited to feeding, bathing, dancing, and Bingo. She performed her duties in a professional manner showing dignity and respect for the residents. Every day she faced new challenges. Every Monday Tiffany spent time studying at the University of London taking a class about British Life and Culture. Her classes allowed her the opportunity to meet students from all over the world as well as to explore sites such as Parliament, the Shakespeare Globe, Tower of London, churches and buildings that were important to British life. Over the course of eight weeks, Tiffany had the opportunity to make friends with her classmates and travel with them over the weekend to places like Windsor, Salisbury, Stonehenge, Bath and Dublin, Ireland. She still keeps in contact with her friends as well some staff members.
CEE Title: Inter-generational Cultural Tea Party
For her CEE, Tiffany organized an Inter-Generational Cultural Tea Party, to demonstrate to the Bethany community about the cultural connections that can be made through tea. This event was designed to bridge the gap between the student and elderly populations who are living in Bethany. Aside from providing refreshments for guests, there was a speaker from Japan as well as a talent show that included songs and skits performed by members of the local community.
