International Experience Summary:

Vanessa Durland spent six weeks in London, England taking a Sociology of Culture and Subculture course and a drawing course.  When not in class, Vanessa used her free time wisely and traveled around England experiencing the British culture.  She attended the famous event of “Cheese Rolling” where people chased a rolling ball of cheese down a very steep hill.  Vanessa got the chance to do a famous British tradition that consisted of eating strawberries and cream while watching a tennis match at Wimbledon.  She had the opportunity to visit Stonehenge, Salisbury Cathedral, the Roman Baths, Windsor Castle, and Oxford University.  Vanessa also got to experience the French culture for a weekend when she visited Paris, France.  She took time to gain firsthand knowledge from classes she has taken in the field of criminal justice by visiting the Scotland Yard, touring the crime scenes from Jack the Ripper, and talking with British Bobbies.
