Spring and Fall Conference

The VIH Program is guided by the following parameters:  a) effective leadership requires intercultural competence; b) leadership development is contingent on self-knowledge and continual personal growth; c) our knowledge, skills, and attitudes that are strengthened through both experiences and critical reflection; and, d) leadership development is a life-long endeavor.

The learning objectives of the curriculum at the conferences are based on the framework of the five fundamentals of leadership: self-knowledge, integrity, accountability, valuing others and global perspectives. VIH scholars deconstruct current mental models and deeply-held assumptions around gender, race, class, and religion, as well as to cultivate an in-depth understanding of difference across regions and cultures.

Positions VIH scholars to develop their global perspectives as well as to prepare for their international experiences.

Provides a space for the VIH scholars to debrief their international experiences, to explore the intersection of gender and leadership, and t prepare to apply their newly-developed skills in the context of their Community Engagement Experiences (CEEs).
